Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim

Aperture: f/11
Shutter:  1/125
Lens:     22mm fixed focus
Battery:  None

The Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim is one of the most famous lo-fi type cameras.  I find its very wide-angle lens with its tendency to vignette very appealing.  If you require corner to corner sharpness the Ultra Wide & Slim isn't the camera for you.  However if you do like the lo-fi look I have found the Ultra Wide & Slim to be one of the most best performers of any of the cameras of this type.  I uploaded a gallery for this camera today.

There also is a Flickr Group.

The original Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim is long out of production, however it can still easily be found at places like Ebay.  Superheadz makes a newer version called the Slim Devil.  The Slim Devil comes in various colors.  Some people do agonize about paying around $30 for a camera of this type.

  1. This cheap little camera sure has quite a following. I'm intrigued by your b/w work with this camera. I rather like the lo-fi effect there, more than I do in color.

    1. I think I like the b&w better also. I held a yellow filter over the lens in the b&w which I think helped some.

  2. Are the Vivitars and Superheadz the same ? Is it worth paying 70usd for a brand new Vivitar ? Or am I better off with a cheaper BN Superheadz ? Thanks :D

    1. I have only used the Vivitar one, however I have read where people who had experience with both say they appear to be from the same mold. Probably the only advantage with the used Vivitar is that you might be able to get it cheaper. However I think that it is a useful enough camera that is worth the $30.
